By uniting the leading free-market think tanks of Europe, EPICENTER doesn't just amplify the voice of our member think tanks from across the continent; we ignite a movement. With the combined expertise of over 150 committed, visionary individuals across our 12 member think tanks, EPICENTER is more than a think tank; we are a powerhouse of ideas with the ability to ensure that those ideas are put into practice. We contribute insights, vision, and a roadmap that can make Europe not just a continent but a beacon of opportunity to live in, to invest in, and to enjoy.

EPICENTER is formed by the Center for Political Studies (Denmark), Civic Development Forum (Poland), Fundalib (Spain), the Institut economique Molinari (France), the Institute of Economic Affairs (UK), the Institute of Economic and Social Studies (Slovakia), the Institute for Market Studies (Bulgaria), Istituto Bruno Leoni (Italy), KEFiM (Greece), the Lithuanian Free Market Institute, Prometheus (Germany), and Timbro (Sweden).

Mission

EPICENTER is an independent network of twelve leading think tanks from across Europe. It seeks to inform the European policy debate and promote the principles of a free society by bringing together the expertise of its members.

Like its members, EPICENTER is politically independent and does not accept taxpayer funding.

Adam Bartha

Director

Adam is the Director of EPICENTER, a network a twelve leading free-market think tanks from across Europe. He is responsible for facilitating the collaboration of the network and for leading its outreach in Brussels. Adam gives regular talks on topics ranging from the rule of law, authoritarian populism, free market reforms in the EU, and the political affairs of Central and Eastern Europe. Adam was previously European Outreach Manager at EPICENTER and a Koch Summer Fellow in the Publications Department of the Independent Institute in California. He also has experience in domestic party politics in Germany and Hungary. Adam has a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics.

Jacob Farley

Jacob Farley

Project Manager

As the Project Manager of EPICENTER, Jacob is responsible for facilitating pan-European collaborative research among our member and partner think tanks, enabling them to amplify the classical liberal message in Brussels as well as in multiple European countries. On a day-to-day basis, Jacob's role involves managing EPICENTER's internship program, handling external communications, and engaging in outreach activities. His primary areas of expertise include classical liberal international relations and European integration. Jacob graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2022, having studied MSc International Relations with a particular focus on EU foreign policy. Before assuming the role of EPICENTER’s Project Manager, Jacob served as an EPICENTER research intern and IEA intern.

John Abbott

Project Consultant

John, now a Project Consultant at EPICENTER, brings a wealth of knowledge in European geopolitics to the team, bolstering its capabilities in strategic collaboration and international outreach. His academic background, having earned a first-class degree from Royal Holloway, University of London, specialised in European Union political affairs through the lens of international relations theory. This theoretical foundation is complemented by practical experience gained during his tenure at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) as a general intern. John's work at the IEA was pivotal, as it allowed him to delve deeply into global political dynamics, particularly with a focus on the interactions between Europe and Africa, thanks to his involvement with the IATP.

Harrison Griffiths

Project Manager

Harrison supports EPICENTER's communications efforts, ensuring a truly pan-European reach for our publications from distributing publications at conferences to reaching new audiences on social media. Harrison is also Head of Partnerships at the Initiative for African Trade and Prosperity (IATP) and serves as the International Programmes Manager at the Institute of Economic Affairs. He worked in the IEA's communications team for two years from August 2022 to August 2024. Before joining the IEA, Harrison graduated from the University of Exeter in 2021 studying politics, before getting his MA in American History and Politics from University College London. Harrison has written and spoken about a wide range of topics including freedom of speech, civil liberties, US & UK politics, immigration, industrial policy, and housing.

Institute for Market Economics - Bulgaria

The Institute for Market Economics (IME) is the first and oldest independent economic policy think tank in Bulgaria. Its mission is to advocate free market solutions to challenges citizens of Bulgaria and the region face in reforms. IME methods are in-depth research, fact-based advocacy, targeted efforts towards decision-makers, active media presence, events and spreading the ideas of the free market among young people. IME is incremental in policy changes in tax policy, deregulation, rule of law and social policy. It also has expertise in labour market regulation, education and healthcare.

CEPOS - Denmark

CEPOS is an independent Danish think tank promoting a society based on freedom, responsibility, private initiative, and limited government.

CEPOS wishes to contribute to more personal and economic freedom, rule of law and democracy as well as a limited government sustained by healthy civil institutions, such as family, civil associations, and cultural life. CEPOS encourages competition, supports free markets, global free trade and opposes government subsidies to businesses.

Institut Économique Molinari - France

The Institut Économique Molinari is a research and educational organisation aimed at undertaking and stimulating an economic approach to the analysis of public policy. It is named after Gustave de Molinari, a Franco-Belgian economist and journalist who devoted his life to fostering such an approach. The IEM’s mission is to propose alternative and innovative solutions that will promote the prosperity of all individuals in society.

PROMETHEUS - Germany

Prometheus champions an open and liberal society. We believe that a vibrant civil society, decentralised solutions, and an entrepreneurial spirit are the foundation of a world in which all people are constantly improving. We inspire the do-it-yourself ethos by communicating ideas and by networking current and future decision makers. Prometheus offers a home to freedom-loving people. As the only classical-liberal think tank in Germany, Prometheus is funded exclusively by private donations.

KEFIM - Greece

KEFiM is Greece’s premier free-market think tank that envisions Greece as a role model of economic and civil liberty where citizens are allowed to pursue their dreams and aspirations freely. Its mission is to increase individual and economic freedoms of Greeks through the promotion of liberal ideas and policy proposals. KEFiM focuses its work on four strategic pillars: the promotion of sound policy proposals that influence policy making, the protection of civil liberties through judicial activism, the promotion of economic literacy through educational campaigns, and the development of a bipartisan liberal movement. Istituto Bruno Leoni - Italy

The Istituto Bruno Leoni (IBL) seeks to promote a more informed discussion of topics like the environment, competition, energy, liberalisation, tax policy, privatisation and welfare state reform. Lithuanina Free Market Institute - Lithuania

The Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI) is a private non-profit non-party organisation established in 1990 to promote the ideas of individual freedom and responsibility, the free market, and limited government intervention. Our goal is to assist the accomplishment of the common interests of the people of Lithuania, which are best implemented in a free market where every individual pursues his or her objectives – without any privileges, protection or restrictions – by serving society and not relying on the government apparatus.

INESS - Slovakia

The Institute of Economic and Social Studies (INESS) is an independent non-profit think tank founded in 2005. Its vision is for Slovakia to endorse free enterprise, prosperity, individual liberty, and peace and to create a country, where citizens are aware of the functions and benefits of market mechanisms and the impact of government interventions in the economy. INESS is based on three pillars for its activities: policy analysis, policy advocacy, and educational activities. Its areas of expertise are public finance, taxation, healthcare, education, social system, monetary policy, regulation, labour market, energy policy, agriculture, green deal, economic policy, intellectual property rights, and competition.
