We are living in exciting times, with a whole series of beliefs and certainties being called deeply into question. With a never-ending crisis upon us, many economists admit they feel perplexed as they face a situation they have trouble explaining and remedies that are proving ineffective. This observation arises from the fact that the tools normally used to bring a country out of crisis no longer work. One after another, fiscal and monetary policies have turned out to be powerless in stemming the current slump. This book seeks to offer an alternative decoding and to remind us that there is no reason to reject economics.
